Name: City of Copperas Cove Wear A Mask Campaign
    Date: May 12, 2020 - August 31, 2020
    Event Description:
FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR, CITY OF COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS

    Statement on COVID-19 May 9, 2020

Good evening Copperas Cove! On March 11th I issued a disaster declaration for our community
as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Since that time our lives have all been impacted in
ways that we never could have imagined. While it is most unfortunate that some of our
Copperas Cove residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the large majority of our
community has remained free from this disease. The low number of infections can be attributed
to our community members taking the necessary and appropriate steps to prevent further
    spread.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of you who are practicing social
distancing, practicing good hygiene regularly by washing your hands with soap and water for
at least 20 seconds, staying home if you are sick and embracing the additional steps that have
been implemented in our city to safeguard us all from passing the disease from person to person.
I also encourage the use of face coverings or masks when you are in a public location.

Remember, a mask is to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by the wearer as documented by
the CDC and encouraged by the Governor. Coryell County has also kicked off a campaign to
encourage the wearing of masks in public settings, please see the attached flyer and feel free to
    share.

Governor Abbott published the Open Texas guidance early last week and we will all be
expected to endure this change in our way of life for a little while longer as we try to get our
State re-opened. Please continue to follow all the guidance that is provided and don’t let your
guard down. While these steps are limiting, they are what is needed to keep us all safe. Please
continue to be patient and before too long I am hopeful that this severe situation will be a mere
    memory for us.

As our way of life will be forever impacted by this, moving forward I encourage you to continue
to practice social distancing, good hygiene and to stay home if you are sick. Together, we
CAN make a difference. You can stay current with local updates on the City’s Facebook page,
and pertinent documents can be found at http://www.copperascovetx.gov/pio/covid-19/.
    Thank you and stay safe!

    Yours in Service,
    Bradi Diaz
